Hmong Rice Terraces in the Northern Highlands

These beautiful rice terraces are planted and maintained by Hmong farmers near Sa Pa, in the Lào Cai province of Việt Nam. Famous for its concentration of various indigenous Hmong groups, Sa Pa is a mountainous frontier town in the far north, near the border of China. Sa Pa rests in the shadow of Fan Si Pan, the tallest mountain in Việt Nam and the last major peak of the Himalayan chain.
