Fear of Ambivalence

Midsection detail of self portrait from the Mekong Delta of Việt Nam, 2001. This selection is part of Julie’s ongoing Fear series, since 1995.

A 8×10 gelatin silver print of this image is also in the permanent collection of the Sweeney Art Gallery at University of California Riverside. This was requested by the curator after the Sweeney Art Gallery’s Troubling Borders exhibit (June-Oct 2012) included eight of Julie’s gelatin silver black-and-white photographs from three trips to Việt Nam.

In 2013, Fear of Ambivalence was published in Troubling Borders: An Anthology of Art and Literature by Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora (University of Washington Press).
