Every War Has Two Losers

Deaf as a result of her father’s exposure to Agent Orange, a young woman combs her hair at the Rosy Jade Humanity Center, a rehabilitation center and orphanage for those with disabilities. This portrait was made in 2001 in Hải Dương, Việt Nam. The title is in honor of the poet William Stafford, a conscientious objector from Oregon.
